Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or birth year that you type into a search box on this site is passed straight to the outside provider that runs that search. The provider processes the query and returns the results. We do not keep a log of your search terms on our side.
Messages and Contact Submissions
If you email us, we hold on to the message so that we can write back. It stays with our team. We will not hand it to anyone outside the organization unless a legal obligation forces us to.
Data We Gather Automatically
Each time a page here loads, our servers record a small set of technical details about the visit:
- The IP address your device is using
- The browser you use and the version number
- Your operating system and device type
- Which pages you opened and how long each one stayed on screen
- Timestamps for the page views
- The referring site, when one sent you here
Cookies and Analytics
This site uses cookies, the small files your device stores so we can see how visitors move around. They show us which pages draw the most traffic and where readers stop. Analytics services help us total that traffic up. You can block cookies in your browser settings at any time, though a few parts of the site may act differently if you do.
What We Do With This Data
- Keeping the site online and loading quickly
- Routing your search request to the correct partner service
- Seeing which pages help readers and which ones need work
- Finding and fixing technical problems
- Showing advertising that may match your interests
No Warrant Data on File
This site does not host, build, keep, or sell any database of warrants or personal warrant records. What we publish is general guidance about where Dickinson County warrant records are held and how a reader can check them through the courts, the Dickinson County Sheriff's Office, and the state systems that apply.
We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and nothing gathered about visitors is assembled into consumer reports or files about other people.
Third-Party Search Partners
The search boxes on this site belong to outside companies. Anything typed into one of those tools is handled under that partner's privacy policy, not this one. Those partners decide their own retention and sharing rules, and we do not control them. Read the partner's policy before you submit a search.
Links to Other Websites
We link out to court portals, sheriff's office pages, state agencies, legal aid groups, and third-party search tools. Following one of those links takes you off this site, and the destination's privacy policy then governs your visit. Check it before you share personal details.
Some advertising partners may also track activity across sites to target ads. That tracking happens on their systems, not ours.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal data. A limited set of information may reach:
- Ad networks that place advertising on our pages
- Analytics services that measure traffic and performance
- Search partners that run the queries you submit here
- Government bodies or law enforcement when a valid legal order requires disclosure
How We Protect Your Data
We use standard security practices to guard the information we hold. No internet-connected service is perfect, though. We take reasonable steps to protect your information and cannot promise that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
This site is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has sent us data, contact us and we will remove it promptly.
Your Data Rights
Michigan law, including the Freedom of Information Act at MCL 15.231 et seq., sets the rules for requesting records that public bodies hold, and the state's consumer-protection law covers other practices. Over the limited data described above, you can at a minimum:
- Request that we erase your data
- Ask for a copy of what we hold about you
- Opt out of certain kinds of processing
- Have us correct information that is wrong
Updates to This Policy
This privacy policy may change later. When it does, the revised version appears on this page with a new effective date. Come back to check how we handle visitor information.
